In Search of Degas

The final project for this class is finished. The file size was quite large and there were a few problems in trying to compress it so the quality on you tube is not great. Although the quality on the full DVD in the uncompressed form looks great. For those of you who don't get to see the DVD the post below will at least give you a taste of the video. Just image it crystal clear and thats what it looks like on the DVD.

I thought the video turned out quite good, Donna and I worked hard putting it together and I think the final project works well. If you can never view it, it basically uses video footage Donna collected back in 2001 on a trip to Paris, and outlines a search through the streets of Paris, looking through various museums and other establishments frequented by Degas. The film portrays some of his life's work and ends with a visit to his final resting place at the Cimétere Montmartre. The piece is all set to classical music with smooth transitions and slow motion effects set to the music that give the film a European flavour.

All in all, I thought this was a fun class. I enjoyed learning new software and finding out more about photoshop and web design. I find these two skills could come in handy as I am already thinking about creating new websites for my family and other adventures.

Thanks to Michael for his excellent instruction and patience as we all struggles to learn the depths and limits of New Media Design.

Video Project

The semester is almost over and so is the last project of the New Media course. The video that Donna and I have been working on is entitled "The Search for Degas" and covers art history of Dega's life in Paris. Highlighting some of his early works, his local hangouts, his aging life and finally his tomb. The link to the video should be posted here shortly.

Website is done!

Well after much time and headaches the website is done and online. I have it up on my webspace provided by Shaw. To check it out click here. Or click here to read the creative strategy

It is a bit of a relief to have this project done as it consumed vast amounts of time. I am pleased with the overall result and feel I learned a fair bit about Dreamweaver. Particularly with swapping images as seen on my home page and profile page. This took me a fair bit of time to figure out, but was pleased with the end result.

Web design

I hav't posted here in a while, so I better get on it. We have now moved on to the website design part of the course. I have decided on a simple design that is functional. Basically is it an on-line resume outlining some of my skills and accredidations. Its coming along and hopefully I'll post a link here in the next week or so.
